Lia García, or Lia La Novia Sirena, works as a feminist activist, a teacher, and a performance artist. She intends to bring out the humanness in one another and emphasize love, especially for the trans community.
But she wants to create this connection in Mexico City, her hometown, and that’s why her art is rooted there as well. Her art is very goal-oriented toward improving the world.

Her work is meant to break masculine ideologies and give rise to more diverse views and themes. García even refers to society as a prison and wants trans people to break out of that space.
García’s work is also quite unusual as she uses her own body as the canvas. It’s meant to make us question the feelings of being touched by a trans person and how patriarchy impacts men.
